Dependent stimulus amended return

• So I rushed to get my taxes done. I missed a w2, I fixed it and also added my girlfriend as a dependent. She doesn't work in paid for all her expenses. But I havnt sent in the amendment yet and she recieved a stimulus check. What happens?

Might I add, she was not claimed on the previous year's taxes and she has yet to file her taxes for this year.

Nothing will happen.

Dependents are not eligible for the stimulus check. 

But since her check was issued based upon her 2018 tax return, she will not need to return it if she ends up being overpaid.  The IRS has stated any overpayments do not need to be returned.

What does the stimulus package mean for you?

You should still mail in your amended return.  The IRS will delay the processing of your 2019 return if it determines the income you reported did not match your tax documents submitted to the IRS.
