BTW... I endorse and encourage change... This is not comment about being adverse to change that is not useful. I have been using a program for a family trust for 2 years now which allows me to SAVE THE PROGRAM with the download onto my laptop so that when I backup my system I have a usable product unlike Turbo Tax. This program, also correctly sets up a K1 for all of the participants in the trust. I couldn't get even that minimal help with Intuit for my state. Check out the various states they cover (maybe 7?). I am always looking at change. I enjoy change. Accusing me of a stone age attitude tells me more about you than me.

so if i buy the turbo tax 2024 in the store, pay the 45.00 for it, come home, download it from online using the key code in the box, since theres no cd in it any more, then im not paying for it online am I???? this new method is confusing, have used the cd for so many yrs.
NO. You are NOT paying for the online edition. You will have the desktop edition on your personal computer just like you did when installing from the CD.
BTW the trust program was NOT Intuit. I spend way TOO much time working on my tax returns. I do NOT need to argue with the software people as well. Done. GONE. I am no longer a Turbo Tax client. I've moved on. I will go to another platform. Goodbye.
Not when my old computer fails. I have backed up multiple computers before they failed. The Turbo tax files do not pull up to the new computer. I have to have the back up plugged in and then it only goes as far back as my backup. I have had a few times when I want to look at files that are older and they only pull up the pdf files. They can't reload the turbo tax folders. That is when I pull out the old CD to read the files that were originally inputted. I have moved on to another option... You just need to know that you are not convincing anyone with your arguments. Turbo tax is DONE and GONE as far as I am concerned.
I too don't like the download version. I paid a lot of money for the Premier Turbotax and the download version won't import last year's data from my 2023 Turbo Tax pdf stored on my computer. This has worked for 10 years and now it won't import without an error. Furious!
If you are trying to transfer a pdf file instead of the tax file---that is your problem. You need to transfer the file called .tax2023 -- NOT a pdf.
How to transfer last year’s return? https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1900883
I downloaded my TurboTax application. I am not doing it online. When I start it up it says to browse my computer for last years PDF file. Then it errors out.
sorry to hear that. I had no problem. when it asked me to browse my computer for last year's return, I did and it transferred everything itneeded from my 2023 tax info
It worked for my 2023 tax returns but is not working for my 2024 tax returns

When you click on Browse, the search parameter is Tax Files (*.pdf, *.tax2023) You should have Both a PDF and a .tax2023 displayed. Choose the file name that has the .tax2023 extension and Not the PDF.
I’m done w/Turbo Tax. What a p*ss poor, stupid decision, no more CD’s. You really care about your customers don’t you! LATER!!!
@1962corbing The other tax software companies have eliminated CD's this year too. Technology continues to change---and most newer computers lack disk drives. If you have already purchased your desktop download and have your license key, but really want a CD too, you can purchase one for an extra $10 from TT.
TURBOTAX DESKTOP INSTALL CD FOR $10

No more floppy disks either. There is no longer any income tax software that does not need to be downloaded.
Download didn't work. Just spent 2.5 hours on the phone with tech support. They opened 2 investigations. I've bought the CD's for 25 years and never had a problem. I'M SWITCHING. Any recommendations for a better product from H&R, Taxslayer or ???
They are all excellent products. Not as good as TurboTax because TurboTax is the best. None of them have CD's so it may be difficult for you to use any of them if you are unable to do a download.
