Hi, I have filed my own taxes online using Turbo Tax, but this year I need to file for my deceased Mother. And a preliminary Estate return. I am the executor of Mom's estate, so next year I will need to file the closing estate return (k-1). I understand that I cannot file online because it will mess up the history on file. Therefore I should Purchase a product with a CD rom. Which package will handle both, the 1040SR and the Estate return.

you can file Online by setting up a separate account for her final tax return.

But you're better off with CD/Download Deluxe to do her final return.

You need a separate program for an estate return TurboTax Business.

I don't think you need to file the estate return until the next year. 

what is a preliminary estate return ??
