creating 1099s from Turbo Tax Home and Business (Download for Mac)

What is the procedure for filing 1099s from TT H&B Download for Mac? 

From the Turbo Tax for Mac Welcome screen I clicked on "Create 1099s for contractors and W-2s for employees." This takes me to "quickemployerforms.intuit.com". But here all I see is a button "GO TO TURBOTAX" that links to the purchase page for Turbo Tax products.

I looked for an answer on the help pages, but all I discovered is this note: " Note: TurboTax Home & Business for Mac doesn't support the filing of W-2 and 1099 forms."

So what exactly is the correct process? Thank you for any help.

Where did you see that note?  Can you paste a link?  It should let you use Quick Employer Forms to prepare and file 1099.  If you can't get to it from the main screen in the Home & Business program then try from inside your return.

If you are using the Mac Home & Business CD/Download program you can only prepare W2s and 1099s using QEF-Quick Employer Forms.  At the bottom of the Welcome to Turbo Tax screen it should say Create 1099s for Contractors and W2s for Employees.

Another way to get to the Quick Employer Forms is to go to the Business tab - Continue

Select I'll Choose what I work on (if it comes up)

Top item Profit or Loss from Business - Click Start

Click Edit by your Business

Then either

Scroll down to Business Expenses

On Other Common Business Expenses, click the start or update button

There are two sections where you can start using the QEF for contractors or employees.

For Contractors, on Contract Labor, Click the Start button

On the screen "Enter Contract Labor Expenses" there is shown "Create and File W-2s and 1099s Online with Turbo Tax Quick Employer Forms" and a "Start here" blue highlighted link.  This will take you to the QEF website.

It turns out that the problem was that I was trying to get to Quick Employer Forms from the 2020 version of TurboTax instead of the 2021 version. Is there a way to file a 2020 1099 in Quick Employer Forms?

No.  The Quick Employer Forms is only for 2021.
