In January I had issues trying to bring 2019 into my Turbo Tax 2020 on my brand new laptop windows 10. Spent 2 hours with tech in Malsia he walked me thru uninstall install and still nothing.  I finally got it to at least transfer two other tax files but had to start mine from scratch.  I worked for hours and saved file on laptop and external hD. Went to work on it today and it state my file is corrupt!  I have paid to use Turbo Tax since late 90s and never have I run into issues like I have this year.  HELP

file corruption could occur if you quit before the return is fully saved or even computer issues.  in your users/user name/ documents/turbotax folder there should be a copy of the return preceded by a~.   without opening TT make a copy and rename it without the ~ such as "recovered return". double click on it with your mouse pointer. TT should open it. if there is no reference to it being corrupt. you can proceed to use it to complete your return. review the return to make sure everything is there then you can transmit it. use save as to put what name you want on the file.  if that is corrupt also, then the problem is more likely your computer than TT. possibly the storage drive or it could be an issue with the W10 OS

Thanks for the info but I tried that on last years taxes (windows 7) to bring into 2020 TT no luck.  Also when I started my new tax file I specifically did save as in two different areas on laptop and on external HD after doing 4 hours of entering tons of info.  I truly despise working with this Windows 10 but had no choice since TT 2020 requires it that's why I bought a new laptop since Home Computer was windows 7. So your suggestion wont work since no saves have symbol in front.

Do you still have the Windows 7 computer and the 2019 program installed?

Here's an idea.  Do you still have 2019 installed?  Try opening 2019 program and see if you can get your 2019 return to show up in it.  Go to FILE - OPEN.  Then save it again with a name and place you can find.  Go to File - Save As.  Then move the new 2019 file to the new computer.  Don't try to transfer it from the flash drive.  First copy it to the hard drive.

I'm having the same issue with new files created in 2020 Turbo Tax Premier.  Any new file I create cannot be re-opened.   Very frustrating.  Been on the line with TurboTax support for a while this morning and they cannot solve the problem.
