Is it possible to get a corrected W-2 when I have received a refund from a 401K that failed the 401K adp / acp nondiscrimination test? Currently is shows the full 25K in the box 12 on the w-2 I received from the company where I am employed. They refunded almost 7K. I have another solo 401K that I could put that 7K in, but the 25K is the max I can personally put in and I don't want to throw up any red flags by funding it without a corrected W-2.
Thanks

no you don't get a corrected w-2 for the excess contribution. you should have received a 1099-R if it was refunded in 2019. if the contribution was in 2019 and the refund was in 2020. you will receive a 1099-R in January 2021 to report on your 2020 return. it will be coded in such a way that it will show up on the wage line.
based on 2019 coding it would be code 8. it will actually appear on the line for wages.
Well that sucks. It was refunded in 2020. So I apparently don't get to use the full 401K option of 25K that I should be able to use for 2019. That does not seem right.
How can i get a copy my w-2 from
