Copy and edit a filed return

I submitted my federal and state tax returns yesterday.   Both the feds and state have accepted them.  I would like to do some what-if scenarios on a copy of my completed returns to make sure I'm having enough withheld in a couple of income sources.  I'm retired and on disability this year, so I need to dial in my withholdings.

Can I safely copy me completed return to a different named file and run my what-ifs on the copy without impacting the original?

I suggest you do not take the chance.  Use this calculator instead to put in various scenarios, but using your tax return numbers as a baseline.  You can choose what outcome you want and adjust to reach that goal.
