I have been figting with this software all day today - something that should have taken maybe two hours has taken up my whole day because the software is full of bugs and just will not work.
- it would not let me enter my education expenses for several hours, and then spontaneously decided to fianlly let me enter them, only to then get caught in a loop of making me re-enter them, and then another loop of telling me there were items that needed updating in that section after I revisited it and confimed everything multiple times. I still don't know if it has processed it properly or not.
- at the very end, it is telling me I cannot file both my federal and state together despite the fact that it literally says in the text on the screen that they can be filed together.
- and when I try to just go ahead and file the federal to get something done, and after I have entered all of my account info, ID info, etc. and hit "continue" - it literally does nothing and will not continue or move forward to file my return. The "continue" button does nothing and I am at a standstill.
This product is absolute garbage and there should be consequenses for providing consumers who have little to no choice but to pay for your product with a worthless application that does not provide even the bare minimum of the service promised.
If there is any advice anyone can offer I would appreciate it, as I wait for Intuit to call me back (not holding my breath)

Sorry for the frustrating day you have had. You cannot e-file a 2023 tax return. E-filing is permanently closed for 2023. Those returns have to be printed, signed and mailed. Skip past the screens that offer e-filing---you cannot e-file. Only some professional tax preparers with pro software have the ability to e-file a past year return.
When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.
Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses. Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
that was a typo, this is for 2024. I am working on this past year's taxes
Note to users who read this thread---the original post stated that the return was for 2023, and my reply was about a 2023 return but the original poster edited the question after receiving a reply.
You mentioned waiting for TT to call you back. Did you request help from customer support?
