college credit courses while in high school

My son took two classes in highschool where he can receive college credits. We paid the college directly at the start of the school year and he will receive credits at end of the high school year.

Since we paid the college directly can we deduct this on taxes? There was not forms sent to us acknowledging this. All I have is the receipt from the payment made online .

This is all part of his high school program but not sure if this is deductible and if so what proof is needed to show for this.

You can claim Lifetime Learning Credit. Ask the college if they have a 1098-T for your student.

You can claim the Lifetime Learning Credit for your son. The university most likely has a Form 1098-T for him.

@JohnW152  The poster can’t claim American Opportunity Credit but rather claims the Lifetime Learning Credit so the AOC will be available for the following 4 years.
