Hello,
Does anyone know how to import the Coinbase Gains/Losses CSV into TurboTax Home&Business Download Edition?
The instructions are incorrect for atleast step 4. Absolutely no option to import a csv anywhere, just enter manually or import through bank/brokerage and Coinbase isn't listed. On my initial run through the walkthrough, I answered that I DID have Crypto to report and it didn't present any options to actually enter that information.
Here are the instructions I was following: https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/cryptocurrency/upload-csv-file-crypto-tr...
The CD/Download instructions are just wrong.
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
Under Stocks, Mutual Funds,..., Other, choose 'did not receive 1099-B'.
On the next screen, choose 'Enter Summary'. You will need to enter Sales Proceeds and Cost Basis totals.
Your Summary Info is reported on Form 8949. You will be asked to mail Form 8453 with a copy of your CSV file after you Efile.
You can do a summary of long term and then short term combinations (long term holding is more than one year, short term holding is one year or less). Make one entry for each. You can then send the worksheets or statement with Form 8949 after your return is accepted, attached to Form 8453.
If you are e-filing your tax return, then mail your statements along with Form 8453 to:
Internal Revenue Service
Attn: Shipping and Receiving, 0254
Receipt and Control Branch
Austin, TX 73344-0254
