Child Care

I pay preschool and nanny fees for 2 toddlers that I consider my grandchildren and whose father is a widowed single dad who cannot afford the care.   So we help provide for the children age 2 & 3.   I used to care for them by myself since their mother took her life, however I had to hire a nanny as my business duties got way behind.  Are these costs deductible.

So sorry---you are very generous and kind.   But you cannot deduct anything for the childcare, since you did not pay it so that YOU could work and do not seem to claiming the children as dependents on your own tax return.   You are giving a generous gift to their father, but gifts are not deductible.   Only the custodial parent can claim the childcare credit.
