Charitable donation deductions question

In 2021, we had significant charitable donations as we downsized our home.  As the amount is totaling more than we have claimed in the past, should we reduce the deduction.  These were new and slightly used clothing, household good, home decor, etc.  Also, we have more items to donate in 2022.

You don't have to reduce your deductions just because it is higher than prior year. Just make sure to keep your receipts or other documentation for all of your charitable donations with your tax records.

The amount you can deduct is usually limited, depending on what you donate and the type of charity. For 2021, individuals can elect an increased limit of up to 100% of their adjusted gross income (AGI). We'll figure it out after you import your donations from ItsDeductible or manually enter them. If you can't deduct all of your donations this year, we'll see if the remainder can be carried forward to next year.
