Charged for upgrade edition

TurboTax upgraded me to a paid edition without offering any choice to upgrade. I am very low-income with a simple return. I was charged $131! I didn't use the product. I didn't file with the service!!

Sorry but if you started in the free version but had to upgrade to continue the upgrade was explained to you along with the fee and you had the option to refuse and continue using the free version even if you would have not completed a correct return.   And once you pay the online fees they are NOT refundable even if you choose to not efile or mail in the return.

For future reference ... if your  return qualifies ( form 2022 your AGI had to be $73K or less)   you should be linking into one of the IRS FREE FILE options here instead of using a paid TT program :  https://www.irs.gov/filing/free-file-do-your-federal-taxes-for-free

You only would have been asked to pay for the service once you completed the tax return and were in the File section of the program on Step 1 and then only after you reviewed your order showing the amount of the account fees.

If for some reason you still paid for the account using a credit card then you will need to contact TurboTax support to see if you can get a refund for the account fees.  Use the key words Billing Issue when contacting support.
