Changing status from filed to not filed

I was having K1 problems with my return and was unable to file. In order to print them to troubleshoot I had to "file" the return.  Once I had the printed forms I was able to find a way to correct Turbos handling of the K1s. In order to make the corrections I had to amend the file. Now I want to efile the original as an unamended return but could not find a way to do so.  I had phone support look at my screen and I was told the only solution was to create a new account with the same email address and reenter all the info.  Is this correct?

Is there no way to designate my return as "not filed" since I never mailed it in?  The solutions previously posted in the forums don't seem to apply or work.

I did create a new account using the same email, but it does not recognize that I already paid the fee for filing my 2021 return - the support person said it would.

Is there no way out of this doom loop other than to just handfill a new set of paper forms and mail them in?

TIA

You could contact support at TurboTax and ask them if they could send you a complementary desktop version of TurboTax. You could then download your tax file and you may be able to e-file it using the desktop version of the program.

But it may be less trouble to mail it in. It would only delay the processing of your refund by a week or two typically.

Strangely enough after all this, when I went to efile my state return (which I had not amended) it also efiled my Fed return.  And this after it said I could not efile and must mail it in.

I was going to tell you that, but see you found out for yourself.  You can always change from print to file back to efile.
