Change of Fiduciary Address in TT Business 2024

Form 56 Notice Concerning Fiduciary Relationship is available in TurboTax Business, although you will need to manually complete the form.

  1. Open your return and click the Forms icon in the TurboTax header.
  2. Above the list of Forms in My Return on the left, click Open Form.
  3. Search for "56" then click the complete form name when it appears.
  4. Click the Open Form button to open the form in the large window.
  5. Enter the necessary information. Note that the Fiduciary information that is pre-filled comes from the Information Worksheet Part I, as entered under General Info >> About Your Trust or Estate in the step-by-step interview.
  6. If you wish to delete Form 8822-B, find the form in the forms list, click to open, then click the Delete Form button under the open form.
  7. When you're finished, click Step-by-Step in the header to return to the main screens.

Change of Fiduciary Address in TT Business 2024

I'm using TT 2024 Business and attempting to change the fiduciary's address on a trust from what it was last year.  I have two software issues -

Your software points me to Form 8822-B when I indicate a change of address for the fiduciary.  However, form 8822-B speaks to a business name (the trust) and indicates the old address and new address as being that of the trust - that is wrongOnly the fiduciary's address is changing, not the trust.  When I checked with the IRS, they indicated that the correct form is #56 (Notice Concerning Fiduciary Relationship).  It is this form that needs to be submitted to change only the fiduciary's address.  Your software needs to reflect this correction.

A 2nd issue has to do with the check off box indicating a change in address of the fiduciary from last year.  When you continue, it forces you to form 8822-B and once you print it and continue, your software loops you back to the same screen.  This BUG in your software was reported back in early 2022 and it still exists.  Doesn't anyone look into these issues and make changes?

Can you tell me how to avoid form 8822-B and use the correct form 56 when changing the fiduciary's address?  And if a software change is warranted, when will it occur?

Thanks.
