The state Id number is not required to file your tax return. The IRS tracks employers by their Employer Identification Number EIN. States also track employers by their EIN. If you do not have a state ID number try entering a number that is accepted by TurboTax. So long as it is accepted you will be able to file your tax return and the number will not impact your return.
i put in a number but it still wont let me file.
every time i try to correct the number to one that will not be rejected it puts the EIN back in, in the next step and wont let me file, my previous remark was before i tried to use your answer, this Turbotax wont let me change the number and let me file, keeps giving me Errors to fix and wont let me fix them.
