Canadian citizen working in the US

I am a Canadian, working in the US (received a W2) since July 2022. I worked in Canada prior to moving to US in 2022 and received a T4 form. I am filing taxes in Canada and the US. Do I need to report Canadian income while filing for US taxes?

Yes, if you're a U.S. citizen or resident. You'll need to report all of your income, whether it was earned in the U.S. or abroad.

Here's how to enter your foreign income:

  1. Sign in to TurboTax and open or continue your return
  2. Search for foreign income
  3. Select the Jump to link in the search results
  4. Answer Yes to Did You Make Any Money Outside the United States? and follow the onscreen instructions

Entering your T4 information into TurboTax

  1. Select Find from the TurboTax menu. Enter your T4 type in the search box, then select Go.
  2. After selecting Go, a new screen appears where you can select your specific T4 slip, then Continue.
  3. The last step is to enter your slip information, and you're done!

@gosal97 , if you have not been in the USA during  2021 and 2020, then your 2022 entry would start a new clock  for substantial presence test 183 days --- till you meet that date  US will tax you only on US sourced income.  Thus  your Canadian income will not be under the purview of the  USA.
