Can't fix 7205 error.

In Intui Turbotax home and business for Windows, I get the following error upon running smart check:

schedule C (...): energy efficiency commercial building deduction: form 7205 is required to claim the energy efficient commercial building deduction. our program doesn't current support this form. you will need to print and mail your return with a completed form.

Then the software suggests to fix the error by changing the "Energy effi com bldgs ded."
Setting this value to 0 doesn't fix the error. And there is no way to leave it blank.
Updating the software doesn't fix this issue.

How to fix this?

Thank you.

Can't fix 7205 error.

The fix is to delete the zero.  If you can't do it in the interview mode (because the $0 is stuck), you will need to either:

  • Delete the Supporting Details worksheet that is attached in the background - see below
  • Or, you can remove the zero by going to the Schedule C (business description), and deleting the zero on Line 27b.   Click on Forms in the upper right hand corner to see your forms list.

Option 1 ->  Go to that spot in the Business Expenses interview, Energy Efficient Commercial Buildings, and click Update.   Either:

  • Right-click on the field with the 0 and choose Supporting Details or
  • Click on Edit at the top and choose Supporting Details.

Clear out anything carried over from last year; delete all the fields, or use the Red X to remove each line item.   Sometimes a $0 gets stuck in the supporting details' worksheet when using the Windows version of TurboTax.   Usually removing the supporting details allows successful e-filing.

Option #2 ->  Delete the zero on Line 27b of Schedule C.   Click on Forms in the upper right hand corner to see your forms list.
