Can I use one account for quaterly and another for yearly?

I run a small business at home, being selfemployed I know I have to file for quaterly. But since my husband makes more money and he's employed we file jointly every year. Can I use my own Turbotax account for filing quaterly and then my let me husband use his to fine yearly? How do I export the information from one to the other?

No, that is not something you can do.

An online TurboTax account is for filing a year-end tax return for an individual or a married filing joint return.  You would not file anything on your own for a tax return if you are filing a joint tax return with your spouse.

Instead, there is a place in your joint return where you can enter information about your expected income and your spouse’s expected income for 2017 in order to calculate and create estimated payment vouchers to cover your self-employed tax liability for 2017.

Use the steps below to go to that section of your joint return.  As you start this section of your return, skip the first screen by answering No to adjusting your W-4.  Then, choose that you want to review your estimates to adjust your income projections.

  • On the top row of the TurboTax online screen, click on Search (or for CD/downloaded TurboTax locate the search box in the upper right corner)

  • This opens a box where you can type in “1040-es” (be sure to enter exactly as shown here) and click the magnifying glass (or for CD/downloaded TurboTax, click Find)

  • The search results will give you an option to “Jump to 1040-es

  • Click on the blue “Jump to 1040-es” link and enter your information
