Can I save this and continue when I get my W-2?

Absolutely yes. By all means, use the time now to fill in what you already do know, and leave the rest until you receive the various forms, including the Form W-2 and any income reporting forms such as Form 1099-INT for interest income or -DIV for dividend income.
