You can go back to the Rental Property section, and Edit the QBI from the summary. You can indicate that it is not qualified income.
Hi. that’s is what I do. I have both questions regarding the QBI as No? yet it is still applying the QBI deduction for an amount that does not match any that I have entered.
You may need to remove any amounts you entered for QBI. Go back and change your answers to yes. Continue through the interview and delete any other answers/amounts for that section. Then go back to the beginning and change your answers to no, not QBI.
This is nowhere to be found in my 2024 Premier.
Q: do I have to scrub this entire return and start over to be rid of QBI?
QBI questions for a rental property come up after you have entered everything for the property and you click Done with Rental Property at the bottom of the page. Before you return to the Rental Property Summary page that shows a list of your properties, there will be a series of questions to answer, including those about whether the property qualifies for the QBI deduction.
To get the questions to come up, go to the Rental Property Summary page and edit the property. Then click Done with Rental Property and answer the follow-up questions.
I mucked around in it quite a bit and finally figured out how to delete QBI.
The review then passed without errors.
