No, the IRS requires that you use the W-2 and you are only allowed to use the last pay stub after you have exhausted all efforts to get the form and have reported your efforts to the IRS after 2/15/17.
Answered by TurboTax FAQ to this questionWe can't guarantee your taxes will be accurate if you try to file without your W-2. There's important info on your W-2 that may not be on your final paystub.
Your employer is required to send W-2s by January 31. If you haven't received your W-2 by February 15, we can help you figure out the next steps.
If it's still early, we applaud you for thinking about your taxes this early! You can use TurboTax to get a head start with the info you already know and get an estimate of your refund.

No returns will be accepted by TT for efiling before 1/6/17 (or later) and the IRS will not start processing returns until 1/23/17 so come back in Jan to complete the return but don’t be in a rush. If you do efile before the IRS starts to officially process returns on the 23rd your return will sit in a holding pool from which you cannot get your return back to change anything for any reason. It will be stuck there until the IRS either accepts or rejects the return. If the IRS accepts the return you will need to amend it which can take 16+ weeks to process.
The program should list the forms that are not yet ready and give you the chance to sign up for an email alert when they are ready. Here is the availability charts to watch :

Answered by DoninGA to this questionNot all federal or state tax forms have been finalized. Most all the forms will be finalized and available during January.
The IRS will not be accepting any type of tax return until January 23. The IRS will hold all tax returns that have a tax refund which includes the EIC or the Additional Child Tax Credit until February 15.
A tax return cannot be completed and filed until all Form W-2's and Form 1099's have been received. Most of those forms will not be available until the end of January. The IRS receives the forms from employers and other institutions and if the tax return received does not agree with what is in the IRS systems, the return will either be rejected outright or will be held for several weeks or months for investigation.
