Can I file last year's 2023 w2s with this years?!

NO!!!!!

Each tax year has to be filed separately using the forms for the specific tax year.  They cannot be combined in any way--do not even put them in the same envelope when you mail them.  Software for past years is available back to 2021.  Any earlier years can only be prepared on paper forms by hand--and those refunds have been forfeited now.

You cannot change the tax year.   The current online program is for 2024 only.   Only a 2024 return can be prepared online and only a 2024 return can be e-filed.

Online preparation and e-filing for 2021, 2022, and  2023 is permanently closed.

Note:  The desktop software you need to prepare the prior year return must be installed/downloaded to a full PC or Mac.  It cannot be used on a mobile device.

To file a return for a prior tax year

If you need to prepare a return for 2021, 2022, or 2023  you can purchase and download desktop software to do it, then print, sign,  and mail the return(s)

You may also want to explore purchasing the software from various retailers such as Amazon, Costco, Best Buy, Walmart, Sam’s, etc.

Remember to prepare your state return as well—if you live in a state that has a state income tax.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.

Nope.  Each year's taxes have to be prepared and filed separately.

For 2023 taxes, you will have to use the Desktop/download software on a full MAC or Windows computer.

AND, you will have to Print and file those forms by mail at the Post Office.....too late for e-filing.

Remember...Federal and State forms go to entirely different addresses, but where you send them should be listed on one of your informational forms when you print them out.

You can buy the 2023 desktop/download software here:

Can I file last year's 2023 w2s with this years?!

Hello I have a question I’m seventeen and it’s my first time doing my taxes I was told by my siblings that it was better for me to combine my 2023 and 2024 w-2s what can I do.

Don't listen to them.  You must NOT include a 2023 W-2 on your 2024 tax filing.  That's just asking for trouble from the IRS.   And you need to talk with your parent(s) about it too.

Only file your 2024 W-2 in the 2024 software.   In fact, you may not need to file taxes at all if you had less than $14,600 of earned W-2 income for 2024 (nor more than 1,300 of unearned income from interest and investment dividends) .......but even if you did earn less....IF..if you have tax withholding showing in box 2 of the W-2, then you would need to file to get those $$ refunded to you.  And be sure to indicate that you are someone else's dependent when you enter your basic information in the My Info area.

__________________________

For the 2023 W-2....IF, and only if you are required to file it (13,850 of earned W-2 income, or more than $1,250 of unearned income),  then you would have to buy the download version of the tax software to be installed on a full MAC or Windows computer...and 2023 taxes can only be mailed in at this late date.

Of course,  even IF you are not required to file for 2023......if you had Federal income taxes withheld showing in box 2 of the 2023 W-2, you might want to file it anyhow, but buying the 2023 Desktop software might end up costing more than the box 2$$ amount you could get refunded, so it wouldn't be worthwhile to file...provided you are not "required" to file because your income waws so low.
