Can I file 2018 final 1120 tax return using 2017 form and 2017 turbotax software?

I filed my 2017 (Calendar year) 1120 tax return for my c corp. last week using turbotax business 2017 software cd.

I sold my whole business and assets on aug.31, 2018.

can i use 2017 turbotax business software cd to file my 2018 (Part-year Jan.01, 2018 to Aug.31, 2018) Final 1120 tax return for my c corp. last week using turbotax business 2017 software cd and 2017 form 1120?

I would not recommend it, especially with the numerous law changes.  You would be better off filing an extension and using the 2018 software.

yes. but you need to create a new file and probably wont be able to transfer the 2017 data. assuming the corp was closed 8/2018 the return is due 11/15/18.  because of the filing deadline, and the fact that 2018 forms aren't out yet, the IRS says use 2017 forms but  make sure the fiscal year date appears and the return is marked final.
