It is not possible to cancel a return that has already been electronically filed. It is the same as if you have put the return in the mailbox. There is no way to pull it back. You will have to wait and find out if your return is accepted or rejected by the IRS.
If your return is accepted, then it will be processed as you filed it. And you will have to amend your return to include any missing or incorrect information. You can find information on amending your return
here. However, the amend process will not be open until mid-February. We also highly recommend you wait until your return has been fully processed and you receive your refund before attempting an amendment. This is because if the IRS finds another issue with your return, you don’t want to have to amend a second time.
However, if your return is rejected by the IRS, then you will have an opportunity to review and resubmit your return. You could then add any missing information. Or, if you prefer not to refile it with TurboTax, you could decline to resubmit the return.
Please note that the IRS does not officially begin processing returns until Jan 23rd this year. You should know shortly after that date whether your return has been accepted or rejected.
