I am a permanent resident of Australia. I must attach a letter (Certificate of Coverage) from the SSA to my IRS return each year to be able to avoid paying social security tax to the SSA. How can I attach this letter to my efile for Turbotax?
In the past, my tax accountant attached this letter via their software, but I am using TurboTax now and I cannot see where I can attached this letter as a PDF. If I cannot attach a file, I am not able to efile my return and it will take the IRS far longer to process my paper return than electronic return.
If this option is not currently available, will TurboTax be able to add this feature to future versions of the software?

Sorry--no---pdf's cannot be attached to an e-file when you use TurboTax. A tax professional may have had a way to do that, but the do-it-yourself TT software cannot. If you have to include a document then your return will have to be mailed. Sorry.

How do I attach a pdf to my efile return?
@user17574599959 Sorry--you cannot attach a pdf to an e-filed tax return. E-file the return itself and if the IRS needs additional information from you they will send you a letter to request it. Or file the return by mail and include a copy of whatever it is.
Thanks for the reply. We are expats living over seas and have been filing paper returns due to this issue. We need to file additional information with our return each year as attachments (e.g., a letter from the Social Security Administration confirming an exemption from SSA tax). Our accountant was able to file this letter as an attachment to our return and file electronically when they did our taxes years ago. It would be helpful if in the future TurboTax was able to provide this as an option as it would be simpler and quicker for us to file electronically rather than via international post.
