Can engaged people file married jointly?

Wondering about filing married jointly, we currently are set to get married next year, but live together and share financial responsibilities and the parenting of two kids. Can we file, "married jointly"?

No. You must actually be married to file either married jointly or married separately.

Unfortunately no. You only can file as married filing jointly if you are married on or before 12/31 of the current tax year.
