He will need to enter his 2016 AGI. If he doesn't have a copy of his tax return from 2016, he can order a free transcript from the IRS by going to https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript and selecting "Get transcript online".

No he hasn’t filed his 2017. Are they asking for 2016?
