Hello,
I am a US citizen but live and work abroad, regardless my last place of residence was Alaska which does not have a state income taxes. My bank is also located in Texas, which does not have an income tax either. On my 1099-INT for box 15 - state, there is nothing listed, as well as nothing listed for box 16 or 17 as I do not pay any state income taxes on interest income.
I have read many help pages that say just to leave the value blank, as thats whats actually on my 1099-INT, but the TurboTax program will not accept it. I keep getting to the e-file page and it says I need to fix my return or else I will have to file by mail, and sends me back to that same box to fill something in.
Should I just list a random state? How do I get TurboTax's program to accept that there is nothing in box 15.
Thanks

If it still happens after that, then try deleting the 1099-INT and then re-enter it. Sometimes that resets something.
Leave boxes 15, 16 & 17 completely blank ... not even a zero should be entered.

Thank you! Deleting everything out and manually inputting the numbers, or in this case lack of numbers, finally made it work.
