Bonus from Boss - personal check

I received a sizable bonus from my boss, but it was in the form of a personal check and not reported on any forms. Is it considered a gift or do I still have to report this on my return, and if so where do I put it?

If the bonus is not included in your W-2 or another tax form, you may enter it as Other Reportable Income:

1. Federal Taxes
2. Wages and Income
3. Scroll down to Less Common Income
4. Select Miscellaneous Income
5. Select Other reportable income, select ‘yes’ and you will be prompted to enter the Description and amount.
