For the last few years, I've helped my 93-year-old father with preparing his fairly complex returns using TurboTax. He filed an extension for his 2019 federal and state returns (for which we completed much, but not all, of the data entry), so we're looking at October 15 deadlines. He lives in a retirement community about 1,500 miles from me that has had a lot of restrictions on visitors since the pandemic began, so I've not been able to visit him since February. I don't have TurboTax installed at home (my wife and I use a professional preparer).
I see two potential options for working with him remotely to finish and submit the returns: 1) Install TurboTax 2019 on my computer and have him send me the data files to finish the entry; or 2) set up remote desktop access his computer. I'm looking for recommendations between these options, preferably based on personal experience, but I'll take what I can get. Thanks in advance!

Either option will work... It is up to your personal preference.
how do I send the data files from one computer to another computer or remote in to another computer to finish the entries of a return?
