Being charged 50$ for "live features" when I never asked for them?only want to pay 40. Getting spammed with ads to upgrade isn't enough?then they add hidden fees? Wtf!

After declining 7 spam ***** to upgrade I still got nailed with a 50$ added charge. Wtf turbo tax? That kind of shady business is what loses you customers. Why do you do this? Aren't the intrusive addon pop-ups enough? You need to add a random 50$ charge that's never mentioned until the very end? Shady as fk and itmakes me want to vomit.

You can review your fees within TurboTax and remove any you don't want to pay. Please follow the instructions below.

I know where to look to see the fees. That's how I know im paying turbo tax and extra 50$! I can't change anything there though. Helle to understand how you are going to charge me 40$ to file each return and then another hidden charge. I paid the 80 to file my taxes through turbo tax. That's my payment for processing my student loan right? Then it says the 50$ extra is for processing it too. Why? Unbelievable. That's like going to a restaurant and ordering food and when the waitress brings it to the table she demands and additional 50 just to eat the food you ALREADY PAID FOR! Please explain how this is good practice and the reasoning behind it.

If you have not paid for the online edition you are using, have not filed your tax return or registered the Free edition, then you can clear your return and start over with a lower priced edition. Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the program screen while working on the 2019 online tax return. Click on Clear & Start Over.

OR -

IRS Free File Program - https://apps.irs.gov/app/freeFile/
If you are eligible you can use the TurboTax Free File Program which is free to file both a federal and state tax return. The Free File Program edition is a full featured personal tax program and on a separate website from the TurboTax online editions.

To qualify for free 2019 federal and state tax returns with the Free File Program, you'll need to meet at least one of these requirements:

  • A maximum 2019 adjusted gross income (AGI) of $36,000; or
  • You qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC); or
  • You served as active duty military (including Reservists and National Guard) with a maximum 2019 AGI of $69,000 (you'll also need a military-issued W-2).

FYI ... the IRS has 10 companies in the FREE FILE pool and if your AGI was $69K or less there is at least one of them you can use to file both the fed & state for FREE.   Use the tool to see which programs you qualify to use :
