Attaching a pdf to efile return in support of form 8885

Each year I have to add supporting documents to my Federal 1040 in support of my Form 8885 Health Coverage Tax Credit.  This has caused me to mail a paper return to IRS.  I would really like to figure out how to upload these supporting documents by PDF and e-file the entire package.  I know how to create the PDF.  What I don't know how to do is to attach this PDF or merge it into the TurboTax Return.   For background, my taxes were prepared using TurboTax Premier 2020 CD-ROM.  I really want to avoid mailing through the postal service.

Unfortunately, you are unable to upload the supporting documents to be submitted through TurboTax.

Mailing in the documents would be the only option.

Do you mean that filing the entire return in physical form is the only option, or can I e-file and then mail the supporting documents separately with a letter of explanation? If the latter, what should be included in the letter?

You can e-file the return, then follow the instructions here to send in the support files.
