If you try to e-file your return, it will be rejected. You will need to print off your return and mail it in with a letter of explanation as to why you are allowed to claim the child. The IRS will not tell you who else claimed your child, but will look at your return, that persons return and your letter of explanation as to why you claim the child. If they find that you are correct, your return will be processed with the child on your return and the others will be adjusted taking the child off.
