I’m married but separated, I’ve always filed as head of household. When I filed my taxes for 2022, I accidentally filed married filing separate. Can I still amend my tax return for that year ? And change my filing status to head of household. I’ve never amended a return I’m afraid to get audited. When my husband filed his taxes for that year he filed as single.

If you lived apart from your spouse for at least the last six months of 2022 and had physical custody of the children, you may be able to amend and change your filing status for 2022 to Head of Household. Did you live apart? Do you have the children?

If you qualify as Head of Household, when you enter your marital status (single or married filing separately) into My Info, and then enter your qualifying dependent, TurboTax will offer HOH as your filing status.
If your spouse filed as "Single" he filed improperly. Single is not a filing status option if you are legally married. He should have filed as married filing separately.
If/when you amend, you change your filing status in MY INFO.
See this TurboTax support FAQ for amending a tax return - https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-return/amend-change-correct-return-a...
Do not expect quick results from amending. It can take five months or more for the IRS to process an amended return.

Yes & yes. It’s actually 2021 that I need to amend , can I still do it ? Will I be asked for additional information?
You can still amend a 2021 return. Again---if you and your spouse LIVE APART you may be able to amend/file as Head of Household. If you live together you should not be filing as HOH, and your spouse is all wrong to file as Single if you are legally married.
