First 2024 and now in 2025, TurboTax is only available in handful of retail stores - and only *ONE sells the product to the public without requiring a membership account. A customer should not have to become a member of a wholesale outlet or retailer simply to buy a product! Why is this concept lost on Intuit management? WHY is TurboTax no longer available in-store at Target, Walmart and other retailers like it always had been prior to 2024? This is important so customers can walk into a store and purchase the product WITHOUT requiring a membership!!
Limited 2024 & 2025 In-Store List:
Best Buy (requires membership even if purchasing in store)
BJs Warehouse
Costco
Sam's Club
*Staples - The ONLY store a customer can walk into and purchase the product without a membership - HOWEVER, at the moment it is unclear if the full line of TT 2025 will be carried in the stores...

you can buy it from Amazon and download it.
Best Buy doesn't require membership to buy stuff, maybe they were offering you to join their rewards program
This link Where can I obtain authentic TurboTax software? has a list of authorized TurboTax resellers.
Everything I conveyed in the initial post stands - all facts.
Amazon requires an account, as already mentioned.
Best Buy also requires a membership/account even when purchasing in-store. Best Buy will refuse at the check-out otherwise. Said another way, if a customer hasn't previously established an online account, the store will demand information at check-out to create an account. NO customer should be required to have a 'relationship' via account or membership simply to purchase a product in-store! Companies now days are out of control with the (ab)use of personal information.
I think we've discussed on the Win 10 threads that desktop s/w is in decline so I would imagine options to physically purchase it in stores will be in decline too, if not disappear entirely at some point.
If you don't wasn't to set up basic accounts to buy s/w from these stores the I suppose your only option is to buy it direct from Intuit as you must already have an account with them.
