Do you have a TurboTax Online account?

We'll help you get started or pick up where you left off.

Almost done filing an extension, but it's asking for a 5 digit signature ID for both me AND my ex-spouse.

I don't want him on there and he shouldn't be. We've been divorced since 2022. I think his name got back on because I recently filed (very belatedly) a return from a year prior to our divorce. How do I get him off? I can't just leave the code part blank because it's required.

Did you use an account that used to have him in it?  Did you transfer from a return that included him?   When you filed 2022 or 2023 did you start a brand new account for yourself and not transfer from the prior year?

What year did you recently file before you were divorced?   You would have used the Desktop installed program.   But that shouldn’t affect your current returns.

Go back through My Info and see if he is listed anywhere.  You should be filing Single or Head of Household if you qualify.   If you are using the same account as before you can’t just delete the spouse or switch your name to the primary taxpayer.

The 5 digit code is a way to be sure that only you are accessing the account.  I suggest you use your current zip code.  It will be easy to remember.
