After-tax 401k contribution counted towards pre-tax 401k limit

Hi,

My after-tax contributions to 401k are getting counted towards my pre-tax 401k (which is well within the federal limit). And TurboTax is saying that I contributed 30k more (!!) to my 401k. Any ideas as to what could be going on?

Your overall 401k is limited, if it is pre-tax or a Roth contributions.

Does money automatically added to an IRA (associated with a job) by that employer, as I was paid, count as "me contributing to an IRA"? I didn't add to the IRA otherwise.
