Every year, even though I import my TT return from the prior year, TT asks me questions about how I filed (standard deduction vs. itemized?) or about carryover losses on various Schedule K-1s, for example. Why, why, why... when it KNOWS what I did last year? I certainly don't remember, and I have to wade through the prior TT return to find the answers.
(This is the stand alone version of TT, not the online version.)

I think TT has definitely lost a step. I was constantly told to enter my pension payer's Fed ID. I did it more than once and double checked my work, and it persisted to pester me. I finally found a way to ignore TT and continued on my merry way. I think Quality control has been ignored, even with the price increase. Try ignoring and see what happens. TT used to be so easy, now there are many glitches and un-resolvable situations. Ignoring and saying good luck is my best advice. Sorry, but I'm kind of in the same boat you are.
@operaflute It has to confirm what you filed. Maybe you didn't file the return you imported or maybe you amended it. Could be lots of reasons. Turbo Tax can't assume anything.
Understood. It COULD ask, for example, "It looks like you took the standard deduction last year. Is that correct?" That would be a time (and aggravation) saver in my case.
