Additional witholding in paycheck?

On my W4, I indicated that I wanted my employer to withhold an additional amount for federal taxes each paycheck. Should that amount be included on my paychecks as part of the Federal Tax Withheld amount?  Or does it ONLY show up in Box 2 (Federal Income Tax Witheld) the W2 at the end of the year (but not on the paychecks)?

Additional witholding in paycheck?

It should be on your paystubs and in box 2 of your W-2.   There is not a "special" spot to show the extra withholding.

Additional witholding in paycheck?

Yes, it will be part of your total federal withholding on each paycheck stub. The amount in box 2, of your W-2 will exactly match your total federal withholding on your last paycheck stub of the year.

Thank you! Unfortunately those two amounts do not match. And they are off by exactly the amount I wanted withheld from each paycheck. (Just one paycheck's worth, not the total amount for the year.)  Is there any way I can tell if that amount was even withheld besides asking the employer?

No.  Ask the employer.
