I own both a mac and a windows PC. I have turbotax installed on both so I can work on my taxes while at different locations. I purchased an additional state while working on my mac, but I cannot figure out how to install the additional state on my windows PC. I called Support and they told me I would have to purchase the additional state again for the different operating system. I am having an absolutely hard time believing this is true. Can an expert confirm, or provide guidance on how I can get this resolved? Otherwise, next year I am not buying TT again (I have been a loyal customer for decades now)

@aahamed42 Yes---call again and hope for a more competent rep. They should know that if you purchased desktop software you are allowed to download it to up to five computers that you own, and that if one of your computers is a Mac they can give you the state download for Mac at no extra charge.
Customer support should provide the state download you purchased for either your Windows PC or your Mac at no extra charge. The downloads are specific to Windows or Mac.
However, your plan to bounce back and forth between the two computers while working on the same return using desktop software is a matter for concern. The tax return is only stored on your hard drive---you cannot get to it by logging on to an online account. So every time you want to switch from one computer to the other you will have to remember to have the file saved to a flash drive---- a situation prone to messing up.....
Yes, that is exactly what I do - transfer my tax return file by flash drive. But thanks for your response. On the question of getting the additional state at no extra charge, how do I do that? When I called Support, all they told me was to purchase it again. Should I call again and hope to speak to a more knowledgeable agent?

I called again. I was on the call for 45 min, and the end result was the rep didn't know how to give me access to the Windows download for the additional state. She said she would transfer me to her supervisor, and then I was disconnected. I have given up on this, but it is a shame as they have lost a loyal customer.
I will alert a moderator to this.
Thank you so much for your help and advice.
I hope they help---this should be slam dunk easy.
