About 1044X form

I recently discovered that I forgot to include dividends of around $150 from a 1099-B form on my 2022 tax return. I intend to fill out Form 1040X, but I still have some questions:

  1. What documents should I send to the IRS? Should I include the original 1040 form, an updated 1040 form, Schedule B form, and should I attach the 1099-B?
  2. Can I e-file and send all forms electronically as PDF files, or should I print out all paperwork and mail it to the IRS?

You will need to file an amended return to report these dividends (which should be reported on form 1099-DIV).

As you have already filed, please wait to see if your return is accepted or rejected. If rejected, you may correct and resubmit. If it is accepted, you need to file an amended return.

If you are expecting a refund, we recommend that you wait to amend until after the IRS has processed your original return and you have received your refund.

You can e-file your amended return, and don't have to send any documents to the IRS. You don't need to send the original form 1040.

To amend your tax return, please read the instructions in this TurboTax FAQ.
