8615 calculation of parent's tax

When doing my child's tax return (with unearned income) with the download version of TT, I ran an error check and was asked to fill in line 6 of Form 8615 (requesting our taxable income).  I put in the number from our 1040.  I noticed that as soon as I entered this information, other parts of the form populated ...including line 15, which asks for the parent's tax from line 16 of their 1040.  The number calculated (in blue) is not correct. Should I correct this number to what is actually on my 1040?  I want to be sure I don't mess anything up by typing directly on the forms.

8615 calculation of parent's tax

Yes, you should enter the correct number from your Form 1040.  Editing an amount in Blue directly on a Form or schedule will not cause any problems.  To see what the different colors in Forms mode indicate, see the following TurboTax Help article:
