401K Contributions

Hello there,

I noticed on my W2 form that box 12 code "D" includes the contributions I made to my 401k account for 2022. However, it does not include the contributions made by my employer. Why were my employer contributions not included in my W2 form? Will have been included on box 1?  Are my employer contributions deductible to me?

Thank you - Thalia

No, your employer contributions do not have any effect on your taxes until you take the money out of your 401(k) as a distribution.  They are not listed on your W-2 anywhere because of this.

You can check out 401(k) Plan Overview for more specific information.
