2022 return issue, Turbo Tax fault?

I filled my tax return for 2022 in October 16th 2023. I did it online with Turbo Tax. I have a photo showing what return I would be getting. Fast forward to today, never got email confirmation and the IRS "wheres my refund" says they cant find it. When I go online to my turbo tax account the file is there and says "Amend". But underneath that it says "your 2022 file was never filed with turbo tax" I don't know what this means. I literally have the download of my e-file tax return for 2022 on my computer with all the details. Is this a Turbo Tax mess up? Kind of feels that way, Ive never had an issue with them in the past, besides horrible agents to talk to. I had talked to someone before and they were no help, got upset and hung up on me.

2022 return issue, Turbo Tax fault?

What does it say in your online account?  Does it say your 2022 return was "accepted," "rejected," "printed," or "ready to mail"?   If it says anything other than accepted, then it was not successfully e-filed.  When you tried to e-file it in 2023, did you get the emails from TurboTax?

Did you e-file?  Did you click a big orange button that said “Transmit my returns now?”

When you e-file your federal return you will receive two emails from TurboTax.  The first one will say that your return was submitted.  The second email will tell you if your federal return was accepted or rejected.  If you e-filed a state return, there will be a third email to tell you if the state accepted or rejected your state return.

If the return was not e-filed and not filed by mail, you will need to file it by mail now.   E-filing is closed for 2022 returns, so the return can only be filed by mail.   You will need to print it, sign and date it in ink, and mail it in.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
