This is my first year using TT. The instruction regarding estimated federal payments made in 2023 says "Don't enter 2022 overpayment applied to this year's return."
How then does the full amount of estimated tax paid (overpayment plus quarterly payments) get applied to the tax calculation?

To enter, change or delete a refund from the prior year applied to this years taxes (Federal, State, Local) -
Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
Click on Deductions and Credits
Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
Scroll down to Estimates and Other Taxes Paid
On Other Income Taxes, click on the start or update button
On the next screen select the options under 2022 Refund Applied to 2023
To enter, edit or delete estimated taxes paid (Federal, State, Local) -
Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
Click on Deductions and Credits
Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
Scroll down to Estimates and Other Taxes Paid
On Estimates, click on the start or update button
Federal estimated taxes paid are entered on Form 1040 Line 26
