I actually figured it out myself.  I already submitted my 2022 Return and was having the tax owed taken out of my checking account. The amended return was giving me a credit to the the tax owed but they could not revise the original amount that was being taken out. The only option that worked and let me submit the amended return was to agree to get the refund by mailed paper check.
