2021 Filing

I recieved a 1099 from selling about $1000 worth of stuff from around the house on ebay. My partner claims me on his taxes because I've been a stay at home mom for years. Would I still have to file taxes with this situation I'm in?

It depends.  Did you make a profit of more than $400 on the items?  If you did not, then no, you do not need to file.  If you did and you are selling items with the intention of making a profit then you will need to file a return with a Schedule C as this would be considered business income and subject to self-employment taxes. Example, you are buying items off of Facebook Marketplace for $5 and selling them for $10.  You are doing this with the intention of making money, so you would be considered a business.

However, if you were cleaning out your basement and selling yard sale items, then no, you would not need to file a return since even if you sold them for more than they cost you, it would be below your standard deduction.
