1099-R

Hello,

My wife received a 1099-R in 2024 as a distribution from her deceased fathers pension account.  I entered the information and started answering the follow-up questions.  Wasn't sure whose birthday I should use when asked when the "person" was born (before 1952 or after).  The question implies the birthday of the deceased person but will there be confusion later since my wife is still living?  Would it be better for her to file this under his taxes for 2024?  She received the 1099-R since she is the executor of his will.

Thanks.

No, if your wife's name is on it, it goes on her return.  You are right, the question is asking about her father's birthday, so no, TurboTax will not be confused.   You are entering it correctly, just enter the form exactly how you see it and answer the follow-up questions.
