There is a "1" in Box 7 Distribution code(s). Should I treat this letter in Box 8 as a 2nd distribution code?
Thanks!

The box 7 on the Form 1099-R in TurboTax has two boxes to enter the codes. Enter 1 as the first code and directly below enter the N as the second code.
The letter N in box 8 is extraneous. It should not be there. Box 8 is only for a dollar amount or a numeric percentage. Box 7 an codes 1 and N are incompatible with each other, so the N in box 8 cannot be a misplaced box 7 code. Ignore the "N".
Code 1 by itself indicates an ordinary early-distribution.
